Earthquake Simulator Will Bring Magnitude 7.0 Shaking To LA
LOS ANGELES, CA — An earthquake simulator capable of reproducing the intensity of a magnitude 7.0 temblor will make a stop at UCLA next week as California officials urge residents to prepare for the next major quake.
The California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services will bring its shake trailer to Wilson Plaza, south of Kaufman Hall, from 6 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Oct. 14.
Visitors will be able to experience simulated earthquake shaking and speak with experts about earthquake early-warning technology, emergency preparedness and safety measures such as dropping, covering and holding on.
The UCLA visit will be the third stop on Cal OES’ annual Great California ShakeOut Tour. Other stops include Sacramento, San Francisco and San Diego.

MATHER, CA – Building upon California’s leadership to implement a first-in-the-nation earthquake alert system and encouraging Californians to be earthquake prepared, the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) is hosting the Great California ShakeOut Tour, a statewide tour featuring an earthquake simulation trailer, October 12-15.
Ahead of the Great California ShakeOut Day on October 15, Cal OES is leading the effort to provide life-saving protective actions and preparedness information as we visit four California cities, all while featuring a simulator that offers a real-life sense of earthquake intensity.

Earthquake simulator coming to Balboa Park ahead of Great California ShakeOut

An earthquake simulator capable of replicating the intensity of a magnitude 7.0 temblor will visit Balboa Park next week as part of a statewide tour leading up to the Great California ShakeOut, officials announced Wednesday.
The California Governor's Office of Emergency Services will bring the simulator to an area north of the Plaza de Panama Fountain at Balboa Park from 6 a.m. to noon Thursday, Oct. 15, according to Cal OES.
