Vikings Sign Odell Beckham Jr. & Jeshaun Jones to Practice Squad
EAGAN, Minn. — The Vikings on Wednesday made a flurry of roster moves.
Ahead of its Week 5 contest at New Orleans (1-3), Minnesota (4-0) signed veteran receiver Odell Beckham, Jr., to its practice squad, along with bringing back receiver Jeshaun Jones.
The Vikings also designated third-year center Michael Jurgens and second-year tight end Ben Yurosek to return from Injured Reserve after missing the first four games this season.
Beckham, 33, has familiarity with Head Coach Kevin O'Connell and Offensive Coordinator Wes Phillips as he signed with the Rams in November in 2021 and helped them win Super Bowl LVI over the Bengals. During those playoffs, Beckham had 21 catches for 288 yards and two touchdowns, including a 17-yard score to open the Super Bowl. Beckham totaled 52 yards on two catches before leaving that game with an injury.
Odell Beckham Jr. says Giants "gave me the run along"
After laying out the basic reasoning for releasing receiver Odell Beckham Jr., Giants coach John Harbaugh got a little testy when he was pressed on the question of whether Beckham’s fame contributed to the decision.
“It’s what’s best for the team,” Harbaugh said. “That’s it. And if you think it’s anything else, then you don’t know me and you don’t know what we’re doing here. . . . I’m not hiding anything. It’s not Watergate.”
Beckham apparently has a different viewpoint. He has posted multiple comments on Instagram about the situation. He said, among other things, that he doesn’t know why the Giants “gave me the run along” and he could’ve “been playing this year somewhere and making [an] impact.”
