Will Aaron Judge be on the Yankees' ALDS roster? Here's the latest
ST. PETERSBURG — Dressed in workout gear, Aaron Judge turned a corner at Tropicana Field on Friday afternoon, acknowledging his arriving Yankees teammates. The captain’s workday was already hours deep, and the slogan imprinted across his T-shirt said plenty: “No time like October.”
Judge has made his position clear — he wants to be part of everything that transpires this month, starting with Game 1 of the American League Division Series on Saturday. However, Judge’s strained right calf has not healed enough to warrant his inclusion on the 26-man roster for the Yankees' showdown against the Rays.
He is eligible to be added to the roster for a potential AL Championship Series, should the Yankees advance.
Aaron Judge left off of Yankees' ALDS roster vs. Rays: Three-time MVP still recovering from calf injury
The New York Yankees won their Wild Card Series over the Boston Red Sox with relative ease, outscoring their rivals 18-2 in the two-game sweep. They did so without their biggest name and best player, three-time AL MVP Aaron Judge, and now will try to do the same in the American League Division Series.
The Yankees will again not have their captain for the ALDS against the Tampa Bay Rays, beginning Saturday at Tropicana Field. Judge is not on New York's ALDS roster, the team announced Saturday morning ahead of its 6:30 p.m. game. Judge, 34, has been on the injured list since Sept. 16 with a calf strain.
