Severe storms leave over 30,000 without power in Wisconsin

All tornado warnings issued for portions of Milwaukee, Waukesha and Washington counties have expired after severe storms capable of producing tornadoes moved through southeastern Wisconsin Tuesday, Aug. 18, according to the National Weather Service.

As of 10 p.m., 40,085 We Energies customers were without power, according to the company's outages map. Of those, 22,578 were in Milwaukee County, 11,318 were in Waukesha County and 2,477 were in Washington County.

The National Weather Service had issued a tornado warning for central Milwaukee County until 7:30 p.m. Aug. 18, while one for central and southern Waukesha County was in effect until 7:15 p.m.

The NWS warned that flying debris could be dangerous and that the storms could damage roofs, windows, vehicles and trees.
