Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. hinted several weeks ago that the team might have a relatively quiet offseason, writes Monte Poole of NBC Sports Bay Area.
At a press conference in mid-May after head coach Steve Kerr decided to return to the team on a new two-year deal, Dunleavy said the team needed to find a way to reduce its careless turnovers and added that Golden State’s 37-45 record wasn’t due to a talent deficit.
“This isn’t about the roster frankly,” Dunleavy said. “This year, I don’t think we came up short because of the talent on the roster. It was injuries and things we can control. Do we need to get better roster-wise? I think so. But we didn’t get to a point where we played a team that the roster was better than ours.”
