Bears sign veteran safety Xavier Woods

Desperate for help at safety after Coby Bryant hurt his left knee earlier this week, the Bears signed Xavier Woods to a one-year deal Friday.
Woods certainly has the experience — he’s started a whopping 121 games in nine NFL seasons. He was drafted by the Cowboys in Round 6 in 2017, playing for four seasons before signing with the Vikings in 2021. After one season in Minnesota, he played three years in Carolina and one in Tennessee. He had two interceptions in 10 starts with the Titans last year. Just two seasons ago, he played every single down for the Panthers.
Bears sign DB Xavier Woods, place DB Dallis Flowers on IR
The Bears signed defensive back Xavier Woods, the team announced Friday.
In a corresponding move, the Bears placed defensive back Dallis Flowers on injured reserve.
Flowers needed help getting off the field during Thursday’s practice after injuring his right leg. He appeared in one game for the Bears last season.
Woods, 31, spent last season with the Titans. He played 526 defensive snaps in 11 games, 10 of those starts, and totaled 39 tackles, two interceptions and three passes defensed.
The Cowboys selected Woods in the sixth round in 2017, and he spent four seasons in Dallas. Woods also played for the Vikings and Panthers before landing in Tennessee last season.
