ATP Winston Salem Final Prediction: Botic van de Zandschulp vs Marton Fucsovics

One more ATP match remains in North America before the main draw of the US Open kicks off, and it’s an all-unseeded final between Botic van de Zandschulp and Márton Fucsovics at the Winston Salem Open. As always, LWOT previews and predicts the ATP 250 final.

Van de Zandschulp, formerly ranked No. 22 on tour, is one of the highest-ranked players to never win an ATP title. His level of play has decreased over the years, but he’s been brave on both the serve and return this week. Van de Zandschulp also made the semifinals of this event in 2022, well aware of these courts as he’s often gritty in long rallies with his power. He particularly fired his forehand well during his semifinal win over Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard on Friday, where he won 6-4 7-5 and came back from a break down in the second set.

Winston-Salem Open: Van De Zandschulp knocks out Mpetshi Perricard in the semi-final

Botic van de Zandschulp defeated Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard 6-4, 7-5 on Friday night and will play Hungarian Marton Fucsovics for the title

Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp advanced to the final of the Winston-Salem Open by winning against Frenchman Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard, the No 9 seed, 6-4, 7-5 at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex on Friday night.

After defeating China’s Yunchaokete Bu just a few hours earlier, “VDZ” managed to follow up with a second win on the same day to qualify for the third ATP Tour final of his career.

“It was quite a quick two hours, but I think I did well tonight,” said the 29-year-old. “You really have to hold your own service games. If you get broken once, most of the time the set is over… When trying to return, you try to adjust your position a little, to guess where he’s going to serve. Reacting is quite difficult, so you have to guess a bit.”
