Thousands of Facebook and Instagram users around the world reported service outages on Meta platforms on Sunday, though the cause of the disruption remained unclear.
On Facebook, messages state that accounts are temporarily unavailable due to a site error, while on Instagram, reports concern several of the app's core functions.
Users report that Reels remain stuck or fail to play, new photos and posts do not appear, and pulling down the screen to refresh the feed does not update the content. For other users, a completely white screen opens, sometimes without any error message explaining what went wrong.
In some cases, the application itself opens but only displays old content that was previously loaded on the device. This phenomenon can occur when it is impossible to retrieve new data from the company's servers, even when the phone is connected to a working cellular or Wi-Fi network.
