Hank Williams Jr. postpones two Michigan shows amid smoke caution
The Pine Knob Music Theatre show from Hank Williams Jr. scheduled for Friday night, July 17, is the latest to succumb to air-quality concerns across the region.
Citing “an abundance of caution” as metro Detroit remains blanketed by smoke from Canadian wildfires, the veteran country star announced he’ll now play Pine Knob on Aug. 13.
Williams, who was scheduled to perform Saturday night at Grand Rapids’ new Acrisure Amphitheater, has moved that concert to Aug. 14.
It follows the cancellation of John Mellencamp’s planned Thursday show at Pine Knob following “guidance from public health authorities,” per a venue statement. Detroit’s Concert of Colors also moved several of its Thursday activities indoors, and a festival spokesperson said air quality will be monitored throughout the weekend.

OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. – Hank Williams Jr’s scheduled performance at Pine Knob Music Theatre on Friday, July 17, has been rescheduled to August.
All prior tickets will be honored for the new date, Aug. 13.
While a reason hasn’t been given, it’s not the only performance change at Pine Knob Music Theatre. John Mellencamp canceled his Thursday concert due to the poor air quality.

Wildfire Smoke Forces the Black Keys, Creed, and More to Postpone Concerts
As eyes, throats, and lungs burn amid wildfires raging across swaths of the northeastern United States and southern Canada, a growing list of artists are either postponing or cancelling their concerts due to the hazardous air quality.
The Black Keys were among the musicians postponing their shows. “Upon advisement from the city of Chicago and for the safety of our fans, we are postponing tonight’s show due to the increasing wildfire smoke in the city,” said the band in a social media post, adding that their concerts had been rescheduled to take place indoors at the Salt Shed on Oct. 20 and 21. The group said that all current tickets will be honored and the venue will reach out to ticket holders directly.
