UFC 319 PPV event loses three fights in two days

The UFC 319 pay-per-view event has lost three fights in two days due to various reasons.

Arguably the most shocking loss occurred Friday, when Bryan Battle (12-2) missed the middleweight limit by 4 pounds. Battle's scheduled bout against Nursulton Ruziboev (36-9-2) was ultimately scrapped due to the weight miss. This was the second time in a row Battle has missed weight for a UFC appearance, although the last one took place at welterweight in December. Despite moving up an entire weight class for Saturday's event, Battle still missed by a significant amount.

Battle, 30, has performed well inside the Octagon, as he's 7-1 in the UFC.

The former Ultimate Fighter winner missed weight for the second straight time this past weekend at UFC 319 with his latest matchup against Nursulton Ruziboev being cancelled. Now just a few days later, Battle was released from his contract.

Currently riding a three-fight win streak, Battle missed the welterweight mark for his matchup against Randy Brown back in December 2024 but still came away with a victory. A long layoff followed and the next time he got a call from the UFC, Battle was offered a middleweight contest with Rusiboev.

Battle didn’t blink and he ultimately accepted the fight but still hoped welterweight would be in his future.

Ferreira informed BJPENN.com that the fight was off, but he isn’t sure why. The Brazilian says he was already at 162lbs and the weight cut was ahead of schedule.
