The Dota 2 Esports World Cup (EWC) 2026 Survival Stage has been thrown into limbo after two members of South American team PlayTime were provisionally suspended amid an ongoing integrity investigation. The individuals involved are the team's sporting director, Juan “Vintage” David Angulo Nicho, and mid laner Gonzalo “DarkMago” Herrera.

PlayTime were scheduled to face Vici Gaming in a Survival Stage series last night, but the match was indefinitely postponed after tournament organisers announced that an "integrity issue was identified and referred for review".

Hours later, the Esports Integrity Commission (ESIC), the integrity partner for EWC 2026, confirmed that it had launched an investigation into "suspected breaches of the ESIC Anti-Corruption Code and Player Code of Conduct", specifically naming Vintage and DarkMago.

ESIC Suspends DarkMago and Vintage – Can PlayTime Even Their Continue Dota 2 EWC Run?

Huge news just dropped, as ESIC have just dropped a provisional suspension hammer on PlayTime’s mid-laner DarkMago and coach Vintage. As a result, they’ll be excluded from the ongoing Esports World Cup and all other ESIC-supported events until a decision is made.

Yesterday, PlayTime were scheduled to play against Vici Gaming in a do-or-die match. However, the EWC Foundation revealed the game would be postponed, citing “integrity issues.” Many fans were speculating a possible bug or stage issues being the root cause, but it might be more serious.

The Esports Integrity Commission (ESIC) dropped a statement saying DarkMago and Vintage have been suspended while they investigate suspected breaches of ESIC’s Anti-Corruption Code and Player Code of Conduct. Just so we’re clear – these are just interim, precautionary measures for now – no final verdict on guilt has been made.
