It’s almost like a rite of passage for baseball broadcasters: You simply have to joke about a foul ball entering the booth every time it gets close. And further, you have to express that you were ready to make the play if needed. But it doesn’t actually happen all that often.
That’s why Dodgers play-by-play voice Joe Davis had the perfect reaction when a ball off of Rockies catcher Hunter Goodman’s bat made its way into the upper levels of Dodger Stadium.
Davis had an advantage, too. Former NL Rookie of the Year and 14-year Major Leaguer Eric Karros was on hand as the color commentator. The ball carried right toward “EK” in a rare chance to show that he’s still got it.
