Paraguay coach Gustavo Alfaro said the proximity of pitch-side advertising hoardings at World Cup matches should be reassesed after forward Julio Enciso collided with one during Thursday’s 0-0 draw with Australia.
The incident occurred after 58 minutes at San Francisco Bay Area Stadium. Enciso and Australia defender Alessandro Circati were challenging for the ball before the Strasbourg attacker’s momentum carried him beyond the byline and into a collision with the advertising boards behind the goal.
Enciso was seen holding the back of his head after contact with the hoardings, but was able to complete the remainder of the match after being helped to his feet by Circati.

Germany vs Paraguay live updates: Latest score from today’s 2026 World Cup knockout clash
Paraguay have taken a shock 1-0 lead over Germany at the 2026 World Cup.
Germany have dominated the ball, with almost 80 per cent possession, but Julio Enciso struck on the break to score Paraguay’s first goal in a World Cup knockout match.
The winners of today’s match will face either France or Sweden in Philadelphia for a place in the quarter-finals.
There was plenty of concern in Paraguay surrounding Enciso's fitness before this tournament, leaving the pitch in tears just seven days before their tournament opener during a friendly with Nicaragua.
It says a lot that Gustavo Alfaro kept him in the team and, most likely, played him through the pain.
