Oscar Collazo vs Neider Valdez set for flyweight, world titles not on the line
As an update for Saturday night’s Golden Boy main event, Oscar Collazo will not be defending his 105 lb world titles, and in fact, won’t be fighting in that division at all.
Taking on late replacement opponent Neider Valdez, who was drafted in on Wednesday to replace Joey Canoy, Collazo will be fighting two divisions up as a flyweight.
This does add a little intrigue, perhaps, as obviously Collazo (14-0, 11 KO) hasn’t fought at this weight since his third pro fight in 2021, and that was at a much lower level, obviously, and 105 lb fighters don’t always move up in weight well, even the really good or great ones.

Collazo carries a perfect 14-0-0 record into Saturday’s title fight with 11 knockouts and shifts his focus from Joey Canoy, who was unable to secure a visa to enter the United States, to Valdez on three days notice. The fight will go on, with Collazo now on the board with 1-to-80 odds (-8000) to win the fight and 1-to-15 (-1500) to win by knockout, TKO or disqualification. Valdez carries a 15-3-2 record into the title bout with a TKO victory in his most recent fight against Jose Leonard Gomez in March that snapped a two-fight losing streak.
