“Goosebumps” is not returning for a third season at Disney+, Variety has learned exclusively.

The horror anthology based on the R.L. Stine book series originally debuted on Disney+ in October 2023, with the second season premiering in January 2025. Season 1 was 10 episodes and released weekly, while Season 2 was eight episodes and dropped all at once.

According to an individual with knowledge of the situation, series producer Sony Pictures Television plans to shop the show to other outlets and explore different creative directions for the IP.

The two seasons pulled in 75 million hours viewed combined in the U.S., on top of 43 million hours viewed across 16 international markets.

It's been seven month long months since audiences last saw the popular Disney+ series, Goosebumps, deliver its second season.

Sadly, according to Disney's recent decision to not move forward with the series, it also seems that Season 2 will also happen to be Goosebumps' last.

Based on the popular young adult horror series by R.L. Stine, Goosebumps also marked the second TV adaptation of Stine's books, following the cult favorite 1995 TV series that ran for four seasons on Fox Kids.

While its television predecessor became known for delivering succinct spooky tales with each new episode, 2023's Goosebumps abandoned the weekly anthology approach of its precursor, focusing instead on a single self-contained story over the course of each new season.

Disney has canceled their streaming series Goosebumps, a serialized take on the iconic anthology horror series from author R.L. Stine. I remember watching the first episode of the show and thinking, “This looks fine enough for kids today but doesn’t spark any excitement from me, someone who was raised on those books.”
