Lorne Documentary Heads to Peacock After Theatrical Run
The documentary about Saturday Night Live creator Lorne Michaels will debut on Peacock Friday, June 5, following its theatrical release by Focus Features in mid-April.
Directed and produced by Neville, the Oscar-winning filmmaker behind 20 Feet from Stardom and Wonât You Be My Neighbor?, Lorne offers a career-spanning look at Michaels, from his early work in Canadian television through the creation of SNL, his brief departure from the show, the failure of The New Show, and his return to Studio 8H.
The film also spends time with Michaels in the present day, incorporating newly shot and archival behind-the-scenes footage from Saturday Night Live, along with interviews from a long list of SNL veterans, hosts, writers, and Michaels-world regulars. Among those appearing are Tina Fey, Jimmy Fallon, Seth Meyers, Conan OâBrien, John Mulaney, Maya Rudolph, Chris Rock, Mike Myers, Kristen Wiig, Bill Hader, Andy Samberg, Kenan Thompson, Bowen Yang, Michael Che, Colin Jost, Dana Carvey, Chevy Chase, Steve Martin, Candice Bergen, and Paul Simon.

Lorne hails from acclaimed filmmaker Morgan Neville, who also served as a producer alongside Lauren Belfer. He's best known for his works on the Academy Award-winning 2014 movie 20 Feet from Stardom, 2018's Won't You Be My Neighbor?, and 2021's Roadrunner: A Film About Anthony Bourdain.
