Oklahoma man arrested, accused of assaulting Little League umpire

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Okla. (KXII) – An Oklahoma man was arrested in Seminole County and accused of assaulting a Little League umpire.

According to an affidavit, Johnathan Lee, 40, went onto the field during a game to contest a call at home plate.

Authorities said he allegedly got in the umpire’s face, punched him and threw him to the ground.

Lee is facing a misdemeanor charge of assault of an athletic official, and he could face up to six months in jail if convicted.

“Our children are watching how adults conduct themselves at games, and violence toward officials sends the wrong message to every kid on that field,” said District Attorney Erik Johnson. “Youth sports are supposed to teach teamwork, discipline, respect, and good character. When adults resort to aggression and violence, it undermines those values and creates fear and anxiety for the children, families, and volunteers involved. Umpires, referees, and volunteers are essential to youth athletics, and they deserve to be treated with respect and dignity.”
