HOUSTON — A Weather Impact Alert has been issued for overnight into early Monday morning as a cold front could bring strong thunderstorms to parts of Southeast Texas while many people are asleep. The greatest severe weather threat will stay north of the Houston area, but there is still a chance some stronger storms could develop locally overnight.
Storm chances will ramp up overnight and last through the morning hours of Monday.
The main concern arrives overnight as a front moves into Southeast Texas after midnight. There is currently a layer of stable air in place that could help weaken some storms before they reach Houston. However, if that layer does not hold, stronger thunderstorms could move through the city while residents are sleeping.

Overnight thunderstorms could bring severe weather across southeast Texas early Monday morning.
HOUSTON – Residents across Southeast Texas should prepare for a round of strong to severe storms late Sunday night following a hot and humid Mother’s Day.
We have a hot and humid Mother's Day Sunday. Highs in the upper-80s to near 90 are expected with feels-like temperatures will be in the mid-90s.
The sun will be shining through passing clouds with the chance for an isolated storm this evening.
Overnight thunderstorms could bring severe weather across southeast Texas early Monday morning. A strong line of storms will be moving into the area beginning as early as midnight and should be moving off the coast by 7am.
