LEAGUES CUP 2025
FC Cincinnati begin Leagues Cup 2025 Thursday, the third year of the competition’s expanded format featuring all 18 Liga MX clubs and 18 qualifying MLS clubs. With a new format, Leagues Cup 2025 will be played in two rounds: Phase One and the Knockout Rounds, ending with the Leagues Cup Final on August 31. MLS Regular Season play will resume on Sunday, August 10 and Knockout Stage matches will be played midweek.

In its third edition, Leagues Cup 2025 will also award three spots in the 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup – given to both finalists and the Third Place match winner.
The Concacaf Champions Cup provides a pathway towards the FIFA Club World Cup and the FIFA Intercontinental Cup.
The MLS and LIGA MX regular seasons will continue through August, with most Leagues Cup knockout matches played midweek.
The 12 MLS teams not competing during Phase One will have a break until Matchday 28 on August 9.
In a new format for 2025, all Leagues Cup Phase One matches exclusively feature games between MLS and LIGA MX sides.
Each club plays three matches against three opponents from the opposite league within their set. Leagues Cup Phase One matches are determined by the Leagues Cup Ranking, as well as by region.

FC Cincinnati seek next step vs. Monterrey in Leagues Cup
Amid chasing a second Supporters’ Shield title in three years, FC Cincinnati have the opportunity to lift another trophy as they embark on their Leagues Cup 2025 campaign.
That journey starts Thursday night at TQL Stadium when head coach Pat Noonan's side welcomes LIGA MX powerhouse CF Monterrey for a Phase One opener (7 pm ET | MLS Season Pass).
“We're looking for progress and progress in the moment is, how do we take this most recent stretch, which I think has been a pretty strong performances from the guys, better results, and take it into tomorrow in the first three games of of the competition with hopefully more on the back end of it?” said Noonan.
