KeyBank tower in Downtown Columbus sells for $5.1 million at auction
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — The KeyBank Building in Downtown Columbus has sold for $5.1 million after a two-day online auction, marking a steep decline in value for the 21-story office tower and underscoring ongoing challenges in the city’s commercial real estate market.
The auction began April 14 and closed April 16, drawing multiple bidders with an opening bid set at $1 million. The identity of the winning bidder has not been disclosed. Steven Silverman, senior vice president at Friedman Real Estate and the broker overseeing the receivership sale, told NBC4 his team won’t be revealing the buyer.
The sale prices represent a significant drop from the building’s previous transaction. The property last sold for more than $12 million in 2022 to Baruch Broad Street LLC, which later defaulted on a loan tied to the purchase. The foreclosure case, filed in 2024, ultimately led to the court-ordered sale.
