Ben Pasternak, 26 — whose plant-based business Simulate was once valued at $250 million — was arrested Tuesday on allegations that he assaulted his ex, influencer Evelyn Ha, on March 31 after she tried to film him on her phone inside the ritzy Baccarat Hotel on West 53rd Street.
The millionaire magnate had been staying at the $2,000-per-night Midtown hotel to avoid getting served with a lawsuit against his cryptocurrency venture, Believe, according to the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office.

In a detailed video statement, Pasternak said he is “not physically aggressive in any way at all,” adding that “most people would describe me as super gentle.” He framed the accusations as a reversal of what he claims actually happened behind closed doors, alleging that Ha “was abusive to me for pretty much the entirety of our relationship.”
According to Pasternak, the relationship began with controlling behaviour. He claimed he was pressured to choose between Ha and his female friends, saying it evolved into a situation where he “basically wasn’t allowed to see my friends” and felt “contained and cornered and isolated.”
