Authorities say the driver involved was 26-year-old Joseph Savarino who is the grandson of former Duke University men's basketball coach Mike 'Coach K' Krzyzewski.
According to Durham police, just before 9 p.m., the 15-year-old was riding an e-bike northwest on Cole Mill Road when he entered the path of a Ford Explorer traveling in the same direction. Investigators say Savarino struck the teen, killing him.
