WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Police say a shooting near Leinbach Park on Monday morning started as a planned fight between young people and quickly escalated into gunfire, leaving multiple people injured and suspects still on the run.
The Winston-Salem Police Department says officers were called to the area of Leinbach Park around 9:52 a.m. on April 20 after reports of a fight. While officers were responding, the situation escalated into multiple people shooting at each other.
Police now say there are multiple victims in the incident. Earlier emergency reports indicated three people were taken to the hospital. Officials have not released their conditions.
