Search continues for driver after evading traffic stops, switching to staged vehicle under bridge in Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – Officers are continuing to search for a driver who ditched their getaway vehicle for a staged vehicle underneath a bridge in Nashville, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department.

At about 2 a.m., officers observed a 2003 white Honda sedan trespassing at 826 Burnett Road.

They attempted to pull the vehicle over, but the driver fled from the area at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was able to evade two separate traffic stops.

A police helicopter was able to locate and follow the vehicle until it was abandoned on I-24 East underneath the Old Hickory Boulevard bridge. Police believe another vehicle was staged underneath the bridge for the white Honda.

Earlier: The Mayor of Nashville confirmed that an investigation is underway after a noose was found at the construction site of the new Nissan Stadium.

Mayor Freddie O’Connell confirmed the investigation following a news conference Friday morning.

“It is very concerning, there is an open investigation, and I know the Titans are cooperating with Metro Nashville Police,” Mayor O’Connell said.
