This will be the first time Southampton have hosted Oxford in a league match since November 1987, in a 3-0 home victory for Chris Nicholl’s side in the top-flight.

After winning 2-1 in this season’s reverse fixture (Boxing Day 2025), Oxford could achieve the league double over Southampton for the first time ever.

Southampton are unbeaten in their last five league games on a Saturday, winning four of them (D1); as many victories as they had in their previous 25 (W4 D7 L14).

Eckert discusses squad availability ahead of Oxford United clash

Tonda Eckert has provided a team news update ahead of Saints' upcoming fixture against Oxford United on Saturday afternoon.

Tonda Eckert discussed the status of the squad ahead of Saints' home clash against Oxford United on Saturday afternoon.

After a 1-0 win over Norwich City in the week, Eckert's side will be looking forward to a second consecutive game at St Mary's as they take on Oxford United in the Sky Bet Championship.

Ahead of Saturday’s fixture, the Saints boss provided an update on the availability of Leo Scienza and Ross Stewart.

"I mean the questions [about availability] are going to be for two players I guess. They've both been on pitch today so I'm quite positive that at least one of them is going to be available tomorrow."

'At least one' of Stewart and Scienza to be declared fit for Oxford clash

SAINTS head coach Tonda Eckert is expecting "at least one" of Ross Stewart and Leo Scienza to be fit and available against Oxford United.

The St Mary's side host 22nd in the Championship as they round off a continuous block of league and FA Cup games since mid-November.

Stewart and Scienza missed the last two outings, having been substituted early with muscle tightness and a groin tweak respectively at West Brom.

But Eckert expects one of them to be able to play a part in the Oxford clash, as Saints look to put right a 2-1 defeat to the minnows on Boxing Day.
