EXCLUSIVE: ‘One Piece’ Stars Iñaki Godoy & Taz Skylar Build Luffy & Sanji’s Latine Playlists
Monkey D. Luffy—aka just Luffy—from One Piece would not listen to reggaeton or sad music.
In an exclusive interview with Remezcla, Netflix’s One Piece cast members, Mexican actor Iñaki Godoy and Spanish-British actor Taz Skylar, told us who they think would be on their playlist of Luffy and Sanji. And spoiler alert: for Godoy, it’s not the most famous Latine artist of the moment—or one of Mexico’s most romantic classic ballad singers.
Godoy and Skylar are living their best lives, promoting the upcoming season of One Piece. Last month, Godoy participated in Mexican lucha libre, and spent a whole day of One Piece-themed activities with his fans in Mexico City. Fast forward to last week (Mar. 6), both actors were also part of the 2026 World Baseball Classic in Japan, with Godoy pitching a ball as part of the series’ promotion with the rest of the castmembers. Not only were both promoting the new season with out-of-the-box activities all over the map, but they were also doing classic press junkets that give insight into their characters of Luffy and Sanji from their POV.

Taz Skylar wants One Piece to ‘leave a legacy,’ reveal casting doubts
Taz Skylar is proving doubters wrong in a way few actors ever do. When the 30-year-old Spanish-British actor was first cast as Sanji in Netflix’s live-action One Piece, fans erupted with skepticism.
