Former Missouri basketball star Kim English reportedly out at Providence

Former Missouri basketball star Kim English has been informed that he will not be retained as the head coach at Providence, according to a report Wednesday night from Adam Zagoria.

English, 37, spent three seasons with the Friars after being hired from George Mason after the 2023 season. Providence has not made the NCAA Tournament since English took the helm. English is 47-50 with the Friars.

The coach is reportedly not yet out as the head coach, but has instead been told he will not return next season.

Providence, which is 14-16 overall and 7-12 in conference play this season, still has one regular-season game remaining and will play in the Big East Tournament beginning March 11. The Friars are currently seventh in the Big East standings.

Kim English to leave Providence College basketball after season ends

Providence College will not retain Kim English as its basketball coach after the conclusion of this season, multiple sources have confirmed.

English has multiple years remaining on his contract with PC but the two sides will agree on a buyout of the deal. A search for English’s replacement will begin in earnest at the end of this season.

After a disappointing, and eye-opening, poor effort in a 78-56 loss to Marquette Wednesday, PC athletic director Steve Napolillo was asked to comment on a report from New York-based writer Adam Zagoria that claimed PC has already informed English that he will not return as coach.

Providence coach Kim English told he’s fired even with time left in horrendous season

Kim English may be better served spending his time before the Big East Tournament polishing his resume than working on X’s and O’s.

The embattled Providence coach learned one week ago that he will not be returning as the team’s coach for the 2026-27 season, according to Adam Zagoria.

Providence athletic director Steve Napolillo did not give English a vote of confidence when asked about the report Wednesday night.

“Kim is the coach and as with all our coaches, I will evaluate at the end of the season,” he told Kevin McNamara. “We have one game left and the Big East Tournament.”
