UFC star Jon Jones faces additional criminal charges stemming from February car accident, per report

New criminal charges have been filed against recently retired UFC fighter Jon Jones. The charges stem from a February car accident. 

A second case was filed against Jones in New Mexico on June 30, according to online records and court statements obtained by MMA Fighting. Jones is again accused of leaving the scene of an accident, but also is charged with "Use of Telephone to Terrify, Intimidate, Threaten, Harass, Annoy or Offend." 

The alleged incident occurred on Feb. 21, according to the original police report. Jones, a former two-division UFC champion, was accused of leaving the scene after police responded to a crash involving two vehicles. A woman, found in the passenger seat, exhibited "signs of significant intoxication and lacking clothing from the waist down."

Jon Jones’ legal saga over allegedly leaving the scene of an accident back in February took a strange twist with new charges being filed against him in New Mexico.

Online records and court officials confirmed to MMA Fighting that a second case was filed against Jones on June 30 with the same charge for leaving the scene of an accident, but this criminal complaint also featured a second charge for Use of Telephone to Terrify, Intimidate, Threaten, Harass, Annoy or Offend.

Based on the original police report filed from the incident that allegedly took place on Feb. 21, Jones was accused of leaving the scene of an accident after police responded to a car crash involving two vehicles. A woman was located in the front passenger seat “exhibiting signs of significant intoxication and lacking clothing from the waist down.”

Jon Jones has had another charge filed against him in relation to an alleged hit-and-run in Albuquerque earlier this year.

Hours after it was announced that Jones was retiring from the UFC (a move he has since renounced), news came out that ‘Leaving the scene of an accident’ charges had been filed against Jones in June related to an incident on February 21st, 2025. Police reports and bodycam footage have a half-naked woman in the passenger seat of a damaged car accusing Jones of driving the vehicle intoxicated and running off after crashing.
