Army Sgt. Frank Del Duca has been selected as one of Team USA’s flag bearers for the opening ceremony of the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy on Friday.
Del Duca, in his second Olympics as a bobsled pilot for Team USA, will join speedskating champion Erin Jackson in leading the U.S. delegation. He will be the first bobsledder to carry the flag into an opening ceremony in 70 years, the Associated Press reported.

Meet the athletes carrying the flag for Team USA in the Opening Ceremony
WASHINGTON — A speedskater and a bobsledder have been selected as the U.S. flag bearers for the 2026 Winter Games. The duo will represent the U.S. during the Parade of Nations at Friday's opening ceremony in Milan.
Speedskater Erin Jackson, 33, is the first Black woman to win an individual gold medal at the Winter Olympics, and 34-year-old Frank Del Duca is the first bobsledder in 70 years to carry the flag.
According to the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee, the two were voted on by fellow Team USA athletes, and they are the second pair to lead the delegation into the opening ceremony, which marks the official start of the Olympic Winter Games.
