NFL Championship Sunday bold predictions: Jarrett Stidham bests Drake Maye; Rashid Shaheed explodes

Jarrett Stidham outduels Drake Maye to send Broncos to Super Bowl

Stidham has not thrown a pass in a real game since Week 18 of the 2023 season, which might not engender a ton of confidence among those outside of the Broncos facility. But the Bo Nix replacement rises to the occasion and throws for 300 yards and three touchdowns, outplaying New England's MVP candidate to send Denver to the Super Bowl a decade after the franchise lifted its third Lombardi Trophy.

The always-dangerous Shaheed got the Seahawks off to a hot start last week with a 95-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. He takes advantage of the Rams' special teams woes and returns another kick for a score this week. But the electric speed merchant doesn’t stop there. Los Angeles also has struggled against out-wide receivers and defending the deep ball. Shaheed exploits that and adds a touchdown reception of 40-plus yards.

Broncos vs Patriots: The ‘No Bull’ Keys to the game

Boy, has it been a week for Broncos Country. I was struck with sadness and concern at losing Bo Nix to a freak injury that punched me in the face post-game after one of the most memorable playoff games I’ve seen the Broncos play (and I’ve seen a hell of a lot of them).

I immediately took notice of how Sean Payton talked about it in his announcement press conference, and my attitude switched to hope.

I spent some time this week reviewing my past posts about Stidham to help give me a sense of what we can expect. I’ve been just as excited as all of you out there with the way this team and fanbase are rallying around Jarrett Stidham. Side note: I absolutely love the Stiddy Lebron meme that has taken us by storm on social media. I have no idea who started it, but I give a big hat tip to the creative mind behind it.

Dangerously cold temperatures and snow arrive in Colorado, and will affect the Broncos-Patriots game in Denver

Dangerously cold temperatures have moved into Colorado and most people in the state should be ready for more accumulating snowfall. That includes a strong likelihood of flakes flying during the AFC Championship game in Denver between the Broncos and the Patriots on Sunday afternoon.

Because of the snow and cold, Friday, Saturday and Sunday are First Alert Weather Days.

Just before nightfall on Friday, the temperature was 11 degrees in downtown Denver. The wind chill was making it feel like -7 at the official National Weather Station for the city at Denver International Airport, and across the Front Range and the Eastern Plains wind chills were registering below 0.
