2026 Pegasus World Cup picks, odds: Horse racing writer has best bets for Saturday's $3 million race

The undefeated Disco Time will look to win the biggest race of his career when he leaves the starting gate in the 2026 Pegasus World Cup on Saturday at Gulfstream Park in South Florida. Trained by Brad Cox, Disco Time is a perfect 5-for-5 in his career. He is coming off a dominant 9¾-length win in the Dwyer Stakes in November. For Saturday he has been installed as the 8-5 morning-line favorite in the 2026 Pegasus World Cup odds. Defending Pegasus World Cup champion White Abarrio (4-1), Tappan Street (6-1), Madaket Road (10-1) and Mika (10-1) round out the top five on the odds board among the 12 Pegasus World Cup horses. Post time for the $3 million Pegasus World Cup is 5:39 p.m. ET.

Tom Ryan, the racing manager for SF Racing, tweeted Friday morning that Madaket Road (Quality Road) will not compete in Saturday's GI Pegasus World Cup Invitational at Gulfstream Park.

“Madaket Road won't participate in the Pegasus,” read Ryan's tweet. “He seems to have an abscess brewing – unfortunate timing. He will ship back to California shortly.”

SF Racing is co-owner of the 4-year-old colt who is trained by Bob Baffert. He was 10-1 in the morning line and is coming off a fourth-place finish in the GI Malibu Stakes. With the scratch of Madaket Road, Lightning Tones (Tonalist) will draw into the race.

Unbeaten Disco Time Swings Into Pegasus World Cup

There will be plenty of music at Gulfstream Park Jan. 24 on a typically festive Pegasus World Cup day.

The DJs in the hospitality areas probably will be playing lots of pop and hip-hop.

Instead, in the featured $3 million Pegasus World Cup Invitational Stakes (G1), the favorite is an undefeated 4-year-old with a 5-for-5 record who will be appearing in a grade 1 for the first time.

In a career that saw him miss both the Triple Crown and Breeders' Cup, Juddmonte's homebred son of Not This Time   will try to make up for lost time as the 8-5 favorite over 11 rivals in the 1 1/8-mile Pegasus.
