e& and IBM Unveil Enterprise-Grade Agentic AI to Transform Governance and Compliance

Davos, Switzerland and Dubai, UAE – January 19, 2026 – Global technology group e& and IBM (NYSE: IBM) today announced a strategic collaboration to advance towards an enterprise-grade agentic AI foundation at e&, starting with policy, risk, and compliance. Unveiled at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos, the initiative reflects e&’s move beyond traditional natural language processing (NLP)-based chatbots toward governed, action-oriented AI embedded in core enterprise systems.

e& and IBM have introduced an agentic AI solution built on IBM watsonx Orchestrate – a product offering more than 500 tools and customizable, domain-specific agents from IBM and its partners – to help employees and auditors quickly access and interpret legal, regulatory, and compliance information. Integrated with IBM OpenPages and the broader watsonx portfolio, the solution delivers clear, traceable responses aligned with enterprise governance requirements.

Scaling AI value beyond pilot phase purgatory

Scaling AI value from isolated pilots to enterprise-wide adoption remains a primary hurdle for many organisations.

While experimentation with generative models has become ubiquitous, industrialising these tools (i.e. wrapping them in necessary governance, security, and integration layers) often stalls. Addressing the gap between investment and operational return, IBM has introduced a new service model designed to help businesses assemble, rather than purely build, their internal AI infrastructure.

Traditional consultancy models typically rely on human labour to solve integration problems, a process that is often slow and capital-intensive. IBM is among the companies aiming to alter this dynamic by offering an asset-based consulting service. This approach combines standard advisory expertise with a catalogue of pre-built software assets, aiming to help clients construct and govern their own AI platforms.

IBM targets agentic AI scale-up with new Enterprise Advantage consulting service

IBM has launched a new consulting service named Enterprise Advantage, designed to help CIOs take their agentic and other AI applications from experimentation to large-scale production.

Enterprise Advantage is based on Consulting Advantage, IBM’s internal AI-powered delivery platform, which in turn combines the company’s consulting expertise and workflows used to transform its internal operations.

Consulting Advantage also includes a marketplace that houses industry‑specific AI agents and applications, which has been rolled into Enterprise Advantage.

Analysts say Enterprise Advantage could help enterprises more effectively build and scale agentic and other AI applications across complex, multi-cloud environments because the service is designed to operate independently of specific cloud providers, AI models, or underlying infrastructure.
