Regan Smith will not be racing the 200 back after clocking a 57 in the women’s 100 back last night.

No one in history has been sub-58 in the 100 backstroke more than Regan Smith, who tallied her 27th swim in the 57 range last night.

Leon Marchand’s weakest 200 meter time in long course is in the 200 backstroke, but even a modest drop would help him surpass Michael Phelps in one metric.

Katie Ledecky’s historic domination of the women’s 1,500-meter freestyle isn’t showing any signs of slowing.

The 28-year-old American swimming star on Wednesday posted the second-fastest time ever in the event, racing in a TYR Pro Series meet in Austin, Texas, in her 2026 debut.

Ledecky finished in 15 minutes, 23.21 seconds, less than three seconds off her world record of 15:20.48, set in May 2018. Ledecky touched the wall to finish her race just a few seconds ahead of the swimmers in the adjacent lanes, all of whom still had a lap to go.

Katie Ledecky continues to prove she's the greatest female swimmer ever whenever she steps foot into a pool.

The nine-time Olympic gold medalist posted the second-fastest swim ever in the 1,500-meter freestyle competition during the 2026 USA Swimming Pro Swim Series event in Austin.

She finished in 15 minutes and 23.21 seconds, placing first in the Austin championship. Ledecky holds the record time at 15:20.48, which she set back in 2018, per Olympics.com.

"I'm really happy with that, it was faster than I was all last year," Ledecky said after the race. "It was my second-best ever. I had pretty low expectations coming into today, so that definitely blew it out of the water."
