CLEVELAND, Ohio — Scribbles in my notebook before the Browns play in Cincinnati on Sunday:
1. I’ve heard some people say, “How can the Browns fire Kevin Stefanski if he finishes the season by beating Pittsburgh and Cincinnati – division rivals.” I’d counter with the fact that he’s been here for six years. His last two games should not impact a decision about his future. Either you want him as coach or you don’t.
2. The final games of the season are tricky. Last week’s 13-6 victory over Pittsburgh was significant. Pittsburgh needed that game to clinch the AFC North. Sunday’s game in Cincinnati means nothing to either team.

Sports Illustrated NFL insider Conor Orr reported the Browns could potentially trade head coach Kevin Stefanski, saying that a deal is gaining traction around the league.
“Speaking of the Browns,” Orr wrote, “there was some league-wide chatter about the potential of a Kevin Stefanski trade — ‘smoke,’ as one industry source put it…”
Although the logistics of trading a head coach are extremely difficult, as Orr noted in his report, it is not impossible, with instances occurring several times throughout NFL history, most recently with the Broncos sending the Saints and first-round and second-round picks for Sean Payton in 2023.

The NFL is widely known as a week-to-week business, and no head coach has changed his fortune more than Kevin Stefanski of the Cleveland Browns.
