Hype FC: Arman Tsarukyan vs. Shara Bullet live blog
UFC stars Arman Tsarukyan and Shara Magomedov meet on the mats
This is the Hype FC live blog for Arman Tsarukyan vs. Shara Bullet, the middleweight grappling bout taking place Tuesday at Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concerts Complex in Yerevan, Armenia.
Tsarukyan is currently a top lightweight contender in the UFC, with a 10-2 record in the promotion and a five-fight win streak that includes victories over Dan Hooker, Charles Oliveira, and Beneil Dariush. The Armenian standout looks to earn a title shot in 2026 after an injury forced him out of a matchup with then-champion Islam Makhachev at UFC 311 this past January.
UFC's Shara Magomedov shares peculiar theory on Arman Tsarukyan title snub
Shara Magomedov is not surprised to see Arman Tsarukyan get passed up for a UFC title opportunity.
Tsarukyan was not included in the interim lightweight title bout after champion Ilia Topuria announced that he's taking some personal time off. Instead, the promotion booked Justin Gaethje against Paddy Pimblett in the UFC 324 headliner on Jan. 24 from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
In the meantime, Tsarukyan (23-3 MMA, 10-2 UFC) has been keeping himself busy with grappling matches. He meets Magomedov under the Hype FC banner on Tuesday, and is booked against Lance Palmer at RAF 5 on Jan. 10 in Florida.
"Yes, I can see why Arman wasn't given a shot at the belt," Magomedov told Red Corner MMA in a translated interview. "The UFC got new sponsorships with Paramount (broadcast deal), so they need Western audiences, Western fans.

Arman Tsarukyan set to fight Shara Bullet in Yerevan on December 30
Arman Tsarukyan will once again compete outside the UFC, as he prepares for a high-profile grappling contest scheduled for December 30 in Yerevan.
Despite holding the status of the UFC’s No. 1 lightweight contender, Tsarukyan has been left without a title opportunity. In November, the Armenian fighter strengthened his championship credentials by dominating and submitting Dan Hooker, a performance that appeared to set him up for a bout with reigning champion Ilia Topuria.
However, after Topuria announced a temporary break from competition, the UFC opted to book an interim lightweight title fight instead. The January matchup will see Justin Gaethje face Paddy Pimblett, leaving Tsarukyan out of the title picture.
