Rough winds are forecast for Tuesday night, with Governor Bob Ferguson reporting gusts could reach 60 mph.

The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a wind advisory for western Washington from 4 p.m. Tuesday to 6 a.m. Wednesday.

“Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down, and a few power outages may result,” NWS stated.

High winds could lead to power outages across the state, and as of 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, 5,481 people are without power in Washington, according to poweroutage.com.

Kent, Auburn, and Lake Tapps areas are seeing the majority of those outages, with the cause attributed to equipment failure, as reported by Puget Sound Energy.

Another wave of heavy rain smacks western Washington this week, coupled with strong winds adding concern for potential power outages.

SEATTLE — Strong winds on Tuesday knocked out power for thousands of customers across the Seattle area and surrounding regions, according to utility outage trackers.

High wind warning in effect for northwest Snohomish County

EVERETT — Just when Snohomish County residents thought they had made it through the storm, high winds throughout the county Monday led to widespread power outages.

The National Weather Service issued a high wind warning for Tuesday evening through Wednesday morning for the lowlands of northwest Snohomish County. Winds are expected to be 25 to 40 mph with gusts as high as 50 to 55 mph.

“Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines,” the warning said. “Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.”
