OLYMPIA, Wash. — One lane of Interstate 5 near U.S. 101 in the Olympia area remains closed hours after a collision involving three semi-trucks and a car, officials say.
The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) first posted about the collision just after 5 a.m. Monday morning. All traffic is being diverted to Deschutes Parkway, WSDOT said. All lanes were initially blocked.
WSDOT reopened most of the lanes by 9 a.m., but traffic remained backed up for miles over much of the morning commute.
Washington State Patrol (WSP) Trooper Kameron Watts posted on X that troopers were responding to a "3 semi/1 car-barrier collision," and that the left lane of the southbound side of I-5 was also blocked due to a barrier being displaced.

Washington State Patrol Trooper Kameron Watts said the crash around 5 a.m. involved three semi trucks and a car that hit a barrier near U.S. 101. The left southbound lane was also closed by a barrier that was displaced in the crash.
