2 Fordham Students Earn Gilman Scholarships to Study Abroad
Two Fordham undergraduates will be heading abroad next year, thanks to a U.S. State Department scholarship that provides support for students studying internationally.
Andrra Kryeziu, an honors student in her junior year majoring in International Political Economy, and Zainab Razia, a junior majoring in political science, were announced last week as recipients of the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship.
The Gilman is a congressionally funded, merit-based scholarship designed to help American students build skills critical to the nation’s security and prosperity through exposure to other languages and cultures. To be eligible, students must be U.S. citizens or nationals and recipients of a Pell Grant—a form of federal financial aid for undergraduates.

Eight University of Pittsburgh undergraduates have been awarded Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarships for the October 2025 application cycle.
The competitive, merit-based U.S. Department of State program supports students of limited financial means to study or intern abroad, providing them with skills critical to national security and economic prosperity. The department awards nearly 3,000 students with up to $5,000 in funding each year.

Five University of Richmond Students Awarded Competitive Gilman Scholarships to Study Abroad
UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND — Five University of Richmond students have been offered Gilman Scholarships to support their study abroad experiences.
“Gilman Scholarships support international education opportunities for students who might not otherwise be able to travel,” said Ethan Knight, associate director of the Office of Scholars and Fellowships. “These students gain enriching cultural experiences as well as skills that benefit their academic and future careers.”
The Gilman Scholarship Program, an initiative of the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, awarded scholarships to approximately 1,550 American undergraduate students from all 50 states and the District of Columbia.
Since the program started in 2001, 118 University of Richmond students have been offered Gilman Scholarships.
