NEW ALBANY, Ind. — While the snow didn't stop the city of New Albany in its tracks, it did give people a reason to stop and think — especially when a widespread internet outage turned what was supposed to be an online instruction day into an old-fashioned snow day.
Floyd County Schools called off in-person classes, and the original plan for online learning was plowed aside by the internet issue.
Christina Roberts said she tried logging her kids on to do their schoolwork, but the internet was out at home.
When she went to the Floyd County Public Library to try again, it was out there too — part of a widespread internet outage in the region. So Roberts took her two sons, Gavin and Ethan, sledding instead.
