‘Super Mario Galaxy Movie’ Trailer: Mario Heads to Space, Meets Brie Larson’s Rosalina and Benny Safdie’s Bowser Jr.

Nintendo and Universal have released the trailer for “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.” The reveal came on Wednesday morning during a Nintendo Direct livestream.

The trailer starts out with Mario and Luigi taunting the super-small Bowser, who ate a Mini Mushroom at the end of the first movie and became the plumber brothers’ puny prisoner. After Bowser paints a romantic portrait of himself and his beloved Peach and gets rejected by Mario, the real action begins. Mario and Peach see dozens of shooting stars streak across the sky, then head to the stars with Luigi and Toad. Just like the “Super Mario Galaxy” video game, they travel through different planets, including one made entirely of water and a desert planet with upside-down pyramids (from 2017’s “Super Mario Odyssey”) that Mario and Luigi zoom through on bikes.

First look at Yoshi in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie just leaked — on a cookie box

If the thought of eating a Yoshi egg doesn't disturb you

Despite being a little under five months away, we still know surprisingly little about The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. It was previously announced that the film would be released in April next year, and a small teaser featuring Mario snoozing, with the Mushroom Kingdom and Princess Peach's castle in the background, was released. Since then, not much else. Until now.

Thanks to Pillsbury, the makers of some truly delicious cookie dough, we now know more about the design of Yoshi, Mario's loyal dinosaur companion, steed, and friend.

Originally caught by Wario64 on X, the design shows a glimpse of Mario flying through space, with Yoshi standing off-side next to a green and white egg-shaped cookie. The back of the box shows Mario sitting on Yoshi, along with an observatory.
